Academics at Champion

Mr. Rick Stout

My name is Rick Stout and I serve as the Chief Educational Officer at Champion Christian School. I came to Champion in 2005, after having served as Principal for some 21 years in public schools in the states of Montana, Washington, and California. An additional 11 years was spent as a High School Teacher, Counselor, and Coach. Serving the entire Champion Community is the culminating experience for me in a career of serving students (K-12) in preparing themselves to to reach their full potential and “to be all they can be.”

Mrs. Claire Hansen

My name is Claire Hansen and this is my fourth year at Champion Christian School. I serve as Vice Principal and Social Studies teacher. After being widowed with a young daughter, God enabled me to pursue my B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts from Christ College Irvine, then a teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach. In May of 2009, I completed my M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction from Chico State and I am currently working on completing my Administrative Credential . Before coming to Champion I taught ten years in public schools at the middle and high school levels. I thank God for bringing me to Champion and I love teaching my students facts about history, economics, and government. I started the 2009-2010 school year as Vice Principal in charge of student affairs. I am currently heading the accreditation self-study project at Champion and we are looking forward to Association of Christian Schools International / Western Association Schools & Colleges visiting our campus in April of 2010.

Mr. Doney

This is my 9th year teaching at Champion Christian School and what a blessing it has been!.  Of course, my most precious blessing is my family, having been married for 38 years, with 3 children and 7 grandchildren. I graduated from Multnomah Bible College in Portland, OR with a Bachelors in Christian Education.   Prior to Champion I was a nurse for 12 years and before that served the Lord in Christian Education and Youth Ministry for 8 years. My business in medical database and web development has also helped me to serve here at Champion.

It has been very satisfying to share in the discipling of young people, influencing them to follow Christ and to develop His qualities of character.  The ministry of Champion Christian School gives Jesus, our Creator and Savior, His rightful place at the center of every subject.  Whether Bible, Science, Math or even Technology, Christ unifies all truth because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6)  What a privilege it is to help provide a Christian education!

Mrs. Tracy Nelson

I have been at Champion Christian School for 9 years and teaching for over 18. After achieving my first two degrees in Early Childhood and Program Management at Yuba College, I attended California State University of Chico to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biological Sciences. Currently, I am working on a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction through California Coast University.
Engaging students in the sciences and arts has made classes interesting and challenging. I challenge students to develop their college preparatory skills, such as projects, laboratory, and test taking, while doing fun demonstrations and group activities. A dynamic environment is created as students learn to work in a community and apply their newly acquired skills in society, through ecological studies and action plans.

Mrs. Bantum

As a Teacher/Counselor, I have the privilege of getting to know most, if not all, of the Champion students. I love teenagers and enjoy working with them on a daily basis at Champion Christian School.

Personally, I am married and have two sons. My younger son, Stephen, is a sophomore here at Champion.  In addition to working at Champion, I teach parttime at Butte College and am in the midst of acquiring my doctorate in Educational Leadership.
