Academics at Champion

Spanish 1

This course fulfills the California State Education Standards for the Foreign Language category for high school instruction.  All high school students may take this class, and eighth grade students may take the class with permission of school administration. With successful completion of Spanish 1, Champion students generally are promoted into the Spanish 2 class for the following year.

For successful completion through the Spanish 1 class, students will develop basic proficiency in oral and written Spanish communication. We use the Prentice-Hall “Realidades” textbook, and will progress through much of the Level 1 book in the Spanish 1 class.  In addition to tests and quizzes, we will also do several brief oral presentations in front of the class, applying a particular unit’s vocabulary and theme into a presentation.
